WHAT WE DO

MISSION/GOAL

It is the mission and goal of It Won’t Happen to Me to educate teens and their parents the reality of inexperience and unsafe driving habits. Far too many teens are released on the roads without having adequate education, training and most of all time behind the wheel.   It Won’t Happen to Me portrays the lives of teens whose lives were shortened due to teen driving related motor vehicle crashes. It is our hope that by relating how these tragedies affected family and friends the reader will take a more serious attitude in their driving and the parents of teens will take educating their teen more seriously.  Teen driving related car crashes are the number one cause of deaths in this country.  What is being done about it on any measurable scale?  Not a whole lot.  You never hear about this unless there has been a recent death.  It is our goal to bring about public awareness of this SILENT TRAGEDY occurring in this country.  In doing this we believe the loss of so many teens can be dramatically reduced.

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS

We spread this message primarily through presentations to schools, churches, civic organizations and court systems.  It is very appropriate for assemblies prior to HOME COMING, SPRING BREAK OR PROM.  Our presentations consists of a stirring video set to contemporary teenage music, a discussion of specific case studies, and analysis and recommendations of the bad decisions that caused these crashes and Q&A.  In a gymnasium filled with thousands of teenagers, you can hear a pin drop.   Call us to see about having us speak at your school or organization.   .  Parents are encouraged to attend presentations where possible.

OUR BOOK

We have also created a book that focuses on the reality of what can happen to inexperienced young drivers and how it affects family and friends.  This book is moving and makes the reader think about his or her driving habits.  Parents have allowed us to share the stories of their loss in hopes that other teens won't make the same decisions or choices their teen made.  This book is designed to reach students of all socio-economic groups, races and religions.  Any teenager in the country is able to pick up the book and find someone who has been killed in a car crash that looks like a friend or themselves.

TEENS REMEMBERED PROJECT

We along with the Joshua Foundation have developed a web site which list teens by state.  If you or someone you know who has lost a teenage son or daughter due to a teen driving related accident please let us know or have them contact us so we can put their teen on this website so that they will not be forgotten.  Even if they have their own web site we will put them up with a link to their site.  Please visit www.teensremembered.org.
