IT WON'T HAPPEN TO ME, INC.

PRESS RELEASE

A four year-old non-profit organization, It Won't Happen To Me is traveling far and wide to spread awareness of fatal teen car crashes.

"It Won't Happen To Me was founded by Bill Richardson and Lauren Winborne.  It began as a community project while Bill was a police officer with Gwinnett County Police GA.  During his 25 years as a police officer, Bill witinessed the tragedy of teenage driving fatalities.  At the same time Lauren Winborne, a mother of six children was researching teen driving and began to interview parents of teens who had died in car crashes.  Through one of the parents Lauren and Bill met and discovered that they shared the same vision.  It Won't Happen To Me was formed as a non-profit organization with the specific goal to reduce the number one cause of teen driving fatalities.  Because these deaths usally are caused by inexperience and the unsafe driving habits of our young drivers, IWHTM seeks to educate teens and their parents.

They have created a Nation Wide book featuring teens who have died in car crashes throughout the United States titled, It Won't Happen To Me,  Books are given out free of charge in hopes of impacting teens and sparing their parents the misery of losing a child.  The book's purpose is to bring awareness to the silent tradegy that car crashes are the #1 cause of teen deaths in this country.

The book and a twelve-minute video with up to date music is used in their "Drive For Life" presentations throughout the U.S..  School administrators have stated, "you can hear a pin drop" and parents say, "this program makes one think" and teens have stated "You saved my life" "I never realized how easy I could kill myself".

Richardson concludes, "In interviewing these families and dealing with the tragedies they've dealt with, they appreciate knowing that we are helping keep the memory of their child alive.  Further parents feel that by allowing us to share their stories, and the mistakes their teen made other families may not have to go through what they have gone through.
